My name is Vicky, and my professional skills include: hair care and styling, extensions, cosmetics and color mixing, and men’s cuts. I am also the owner of HAIR MATTERS-a barbershop and salon that takes pride in its friendly, comfortable, and cozy atmosphere.
I began my training and education at Hacienda La Puente Adult School for Cosmetology in 1999, where I obtained my barber, cosmetology, and educator licenses. My first job was working in Inglewood with Doris F. Mosley and master barber Clyde Gibson. Doris Mosley, my mentor, introduced me to hair shows, and I often placed in the top three ranks in regards to ethnic hair competitions. Moreover, I traveled to many places and attended many conferences as part of my purpose to educate the youth as a platform artist.
In 2009, I decided to branch out and open my own barbershop and salon, HAIR MATTERS, where I could once again embrace and perfect the art of cutting. To me, being a stylist was never about revenue, but the pleasure I got from making my clients feel amazing. Therefore, establishing my own shop, allowed me to excel and reconnect to what comes natural to me; mainly, being a stylist that takes pleasure in making people feel beautiful.
